Still Alive

I am getting tired of people who doubt that the economy is going to take another wild ride to the bottom. They do not make any sense to me. I am starting to shut them out of my mind. It is just a form of mental illness and I don't seem to be able to cure them. Their one shot at happiness is that they are not alone. They will have plenty of company when the SHTF.

I just saw that Bill Millin died last week.I know most people have never heard of him,but you know what he did.He was that crazy bagpipper that walked up and down the beach on D-Day playing under fire.Rest in peace.

Chief Anthony Batts listed exactly 44 situations that his officers will no longer respond to and they include grand theft, burglary, car wrecks, identity theft and vandalism. He says if you live and Oakland and one of the above happens to you, you need to let police know on-line.

Stupit Season is Here

Ah that time of year the sound of idiots going splat slipping off of waterfalls.
The screaming of another "Lost" hiker,the sounds and sites of the latest posse heading out to find the dumb asses.
Summer time in the mountians last week some hikers got lost this week it is somebody climing over a fence to get closer to the falls.Oh don't get me wrong I'm all for darwin removeing idiots from the gene pool,like number 2 there but getting lost well it can happen.
Just a few ways to make sure it will not happen to you.

1.Awalys let someone know where you are going and when you will return.Kind of a no brainer but have seen people reported lost when they desided to stay another 2 days camping.
2.Take along a small emergency kit.something so you can at least make a fire and shelter.I don't care of it is just a day hike,put something in a fanny pack and keep it with you.
3. GPS,,UGH Yes they are neat,yes they are easy to use and HELL yes they are going to break in many ways,most likely just when your ass is depending on it.Get a good typo map of the area and a good compass and learn how to use them.That said,do keep your cell phone turned on even if you are not getting a signal.Most phones today have a tracking chip inside and they may be able to track you useing it.
4.IF YOU THINK YOU ARE LOST,you more than likely are,so stop digging a deeper hole.just S.T.O.P(Stop, Think,Observe,Plan).Find a good spot (out in a clearing if you can),build a fire do what you can to make a shelter and wait.

hardships of the Revolutionary War.

What kind of men were they?

Carter Braxton of Virginia,a wealthy planter and

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British
that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.
He served in the Congress without pay,and his family
was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him,
and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery,Hall,Clymer,
Walton,Gwinnett,Heyward,Ruttledge,and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown,Thomas Nelson,Jr.,noted that
the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson
home for his headquarters.He quietly urged General
George Washington to open fire.The home was destroyed,
and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.
The enemy jailed his wife,where she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying.
Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill
were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests

children vanished.

Back after Turkey day,hate long driveing.Is it just me or is there alot less mom and pop stores up and down the roads these days? Some places I have been stopping at for over 20 years gone,nothing out there but the stop and shops.


I came upon LandAndFarm.com today, and have spent a few hours looking through all kinds of property. Really fun site if your looking (or like me, dreaming) of a home,cabin, retreat, homestead or bug-out-land(BOL). There are some fairly good deals to be found, and a lot of nice land to look at.

Oh,where to start?

The preepy preppers who think they have to spend thousands of dollars for their BOL(Bug Out Location), a mountain of MREs and more fire power than they will even know how to or will need to use.The ones that carry everything but the kitchen sink in a BOB(Bug Out Bag)? The tinfoil army running around hollering like chicken little? Ok,alittle of all then.


More Dollars Than Sense

Frist off let me say,yes if you have the money get a place away from major cities,less people equals less problems.But do you have to have 25 acres and a home that is more a fort than a house? I don’t think so. You can cut it anyway you like but if a group of not so friendly people want your place and they have some military training,they can and will take it. Sure you can make them pay but the outcome for you is the same. If your BOL looks like a target you can bet it will become one.
MREs, they can have a place in your preps,but cases and cases of them? It may just be that I had to eat them way to often,but the thought of eating them for months at a time,,well I might just shoot myself. Buy and stock up on what your family eats.You can have a whole store in your basement but if it is not stuff you use and rotate out not going to help much.
Firearms,,I can hear it now us guys do love our toys and I will more than likely piss a lot of folks off later,,for now lets just say it is more the user than the tool.You can have a $1500 AR with all the bells and whistles still going to end up dead if the good old boy behind the tree with a single shot 12 ga. shoots first. A firearm is a tool like any other use what works for you but think things out. I will cover more on this at a later date.



Tin men (and women)


We all have seen them, we all know them and sometimes we start to become them.
They have a BOB that looks like they are going on a Nat. Geo. expedition rather than keeping alive for 72 hours or so. Another thing I’m sure to write more on but for now. Come on folks,put the bag on go for a walk not far just a mile or so. Now a few things I want you to think about when your walking.1. you have how far to go to your BOL? 2. How far could you run with that if you had to and how much noise you going to make doing it? 3. (The big one) want you to think like a bad guy you see 2 people walking one with a nap sack and a bed roll the other in camo and a big ass pack,,want to bet on who gets mugged or more than likely dead?



Chicken Little (or the sky is falling)
Yes we all know the shit is hitting the fan and Murphy was a optimist,or we would not be preppers and you would not be reading this.The cause realy does not matter,cover your basics (Shelter,food,water,fire and protection) the rest is secondary.Everyone needs to set down and do a threat analysis.What is the most likely thing that can go wrong where you are? OK,got that done? Now whatever you put at the top of your list,start thinking about what you can do to prep for it. After you have the basics covered.80% of your preps are going to be the same for any major SHTF type of event.This running around freaking over the next end of the world thing that comes down the pike makes us all look like nuts.
